ANNOUNCEMENT: Mod Check-In and State of the Game

the_plateauHi all, mods Worm and Kit here with a belated check-in!
First, we want to sincerely apologize for the radio silence this month. Please consider August's check-in waived, and thanks as always to those who submitted theirs anyway-- it's the best way for us to know what you all are interested in and up to.
Secondly, we want to acknowledge Mod Terry in particular for his efforts, because he has been doing the majority of the behind-the-scenes work keeping fresh ideas in the VR tank and staying on top of all the tedium that comes with maintaining such an old game with so many moving parts. After dedicating an enormous amount of time and effort to the care and keeping of Victory Road in the past couple of years, he's decided that the best thing for him going forward is to step away from modding duties and focus on his (many!) other obligations. We want to wish him our IMMENSE gratitude for all his hard work, and best wishes for a well-deserved break!
That said, the whole team has been dealing with major RL changes in the last year, and between the current level of activity in-game and the mod team's IRL circumstances outside of it, we now face some tough decisions. Mod Worm experienced a very sudden loss in her life, and alongside IRL work obligations it's been a poorly timed gravity well to work through, leaving limited time and energy for maintaining the game. Similarly, Mod Kit is experiencing increased workloads both professional and personal that have severely impacted her online availability and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
With our respective RL obligations not going away any time soon, we have decided that it's time to move VR towards an endgame by the end of the year. This game has had a uniquely long and storied run over the course of many years, multiple platforms, and countless characters. It's been an enormous part of our creative lives for a very long time. As such, we want to make sure its last official plotted event is a meaningful experience for everyone who wants to participate, whether they are players past or present.
Players, thank you once again for both your patience and presence in Victory Road. We'll be back in touch soon with more detailed IC and OOC plans for the game going forward.
